When Russia invaded Crimea in 2014, and especially in 2022, when Russia launched its full-scale invasion seeking to destroy the Ukrainian nation and its people, I began thinking of ways I could help. I conceived of this project as a way to raise awareness every mile and speak with many people across various nations to ask what peace looks like to them.

On this ride, I’m proud to support Liberty Ukraine Foundation—a nonprofit doing real, tangible work to help those affected by the war in Ukraine. Based in Austin, TX, Liberty Ukraine is a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN: 88-1688760) dedicated to supporting Ukrainian residents, servicemen and women, first responders, and victims of Russia’s brutal invasion.
They fundraise for everything from life-saving medical supplies and evacuation vehicles to mental health support for children and veterans.

My ride is an ambitious 10,000+ mile (16,000 km) journey spanning two continents—starting in Los Angeles and ending in war-torn Kyiv. It begins with nearly 4,000 miles across the United States, heading eastward through vast deserts, rural backroads, and bustling cities. From there, the route jumps across the Atlantic to Portugal and continues through 29 European countries, weaving through mountain passes, ancient towns, and post-Soviet borderlands. Countries like France, Germany, and Italy will give way to the rugged beauty of the Balkans and the final push through Central and Eastern Europe into Ukraine.
Over five to six months, I will ride through 30 nations, all while raising awareness, sharing Ukraine’s story, and asking people along the way one simple question: What does peace look like to you?
